This past year has been full of significant accomplishments for our Greek Community. We have focused on the values of our respective organizations and the collective standards to which all fraternities and sororities have agreed to strive for. It is because of this that I am able to share the following update with all of you.

Individually and collectively the Fraternities and Sororities at Kettering have had many reasons to celebrate. We have seen the renewal of the fraternal spirit among the men of Sigma Alpha Epsilon with the completion of their new chapter house this past October.

The re-chartering of our A-section of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity during their national convention this past summer and their subsequent ceremony and reception which took place in March of this year helped to complete the restoration of the Beta Theta Pi chapter on campus.

The Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) B-section chapter was successfully re-colonized during the Fall 2010 academic term, with seven outstanding young men who have committed themselves to restoring the fraternity on campus.

This past May, the ladies of Alpha Sigma Alpha celebrated their 35th anniversary; and in September, the ladies of Alpha Phi came together to celebrate their 10th anniversary.

Both the Phi Delta Theta and the Sigma Nu chapter houses received new roofs this fall, just in time for the snow-filled winter.

In addition to these significant local accomplishments, Sigma Nu A-section and Alpha Sigma Alpha A-section both received scholastic achievement honors this past summer from their respective International Organizations. The B-section Beta Theta Pi chapter received the Knox Award, which is given to the best Beta chapters in the Nation. Likewise, the B-section brothers of Delta Tau Delta received the Hughes Shield for being among the best chapters in all of Delta Tau Delta. As we celebrate 90 years of Greek Life on campus the future continues to look bright for our fraternities and sororities.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to all of the Greeks and Alumni I have had the pleasure to work with and get to know over the past six and a half years. Although I am moving on, I know that the Greek Community at Kettering will continue to excel with your guidance and support. Your time and talents can be worth more to the chapters than your financial support, however that too is helpful. Scholarships for academics as well as leadership development are excellent ways to help inspire and reassure the current membership to continue to carry on your chapter’s proud legacy here at Kettering.

Our Motto: Civitas, Scientia, Officium, Duces or Community, Knowledge, Service, Leaders.
